DNR seeks input on Butler Grade ATV Trail proposal

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources invites public review and written comments on a proposal by Roseau County to obtain grant-in-aid funding for additions to the all-terrain vehicle/off-highway motorcycle trail system in Beltrami Island State Forest.

The new trail, known as the Butler Grade, will provide a 5.1 mile trail connection to communities east of the forest. The new trail will follow an existing township road, an existing snowmobile trail, and a forest access route that is currently open to ATVs and OHMs. The trail will be part of the Warroad/Roseau trails and will be maintained by Roseau County and the Roseau-Lake of the Woods Sportsmen’s Club.

The DNR will accept written comments until 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 25. Comments may be submitted:

  • Via email to pellinen@state.mn.us.
  • Via mail to Jack C. Pellinen, Area supervisor, Parks and Trails Division, Minnesota DNR, 48990 County Road 4, Roseau, MN 56751.
