The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has promoted a conservation officer to first lieutenant and district supervisor.
Jason Beckmann has been named the District 17 enforcement supervisor, which includes Blue Earth, Dodge, Faribault, Freeborn, Fillmore, Le Sueur, Mower, Nicollet, Rice, Steele, Waseca, and Watonwan counties in south-central Minnesota.
Beckman will assume his new duties on July 30. He replaces 1st Lt. Joe Frear who is retiring July 29.
Beckmann began his career with the DNR on March 28, 2012 following graduation from the Conservation Officer Academy at Camp Ripley.
Before that, Beckmann worked for about seven years with the Worthington Police Department serving as a patrol sergeant and spending time as a K9 handler.
He also served part-time as a deputy sheriff for the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, and was a use of force and firearms instructor for the Minnesota West Community and Technical College and Hibbing Community College law enforcement programs.
Beckmann plans to move into District 17 in the near future.
